Monday Group
A gathering in Faith, Fellowship and Fun - We meet monthly on the 2nd Monday in each month in St Wilfrid's Parish Room (Rear of the church hall). The meetings are centred round the Chuches year and include outings and a lunch.
At the moment we are small in number, hoping to encourage more members, both male and female.
A great opportunity to make new friends!
Contact - Freda Petty through the Parish Office.
Throughout the year we met together eleven times having a break in August - mainly in the Parish Rooms - sometimes in Church or members homes.
We rely on the clergy for instruction
Fr. Paul conducted a Lent Mass in the Holy Spirit Chapel & spoke on Holy Week.
Fr Terry Buckingham explained the differing roles of the clergy.
Whilst Fr. Mark went to a great deal of trouble to explain "DRESSING THE ALTAR" and displaying roles and colours in the Church's year.
We traveled across the world through members holiday experiences. Living with an Italian family by the side of Lake Iseo, enjoying the friendliness of the people of Malta and Gozo; and explorations of the Far East in Vietnam and Saigon.
An interesting and informative talk on the Walsingham Shrine of Our Lady entitled 'Every Day Is Christmas'. A members meeting each December gives opportunities for varied seasonal readings and pen and paper quizzes followed by a pre-Christmas tea of sandwiches, mince pies and Christmas cake.
Instead of a Christmas meal, members look forward to an Epiphany time lunch at Grant's Hotel 'Chimney Pots Restaurant'. This was such a success that another lunch was arranged for the summer.
A traditional afternoon tea with sandwiches and cream cake in the delightful surroundings of a members garden was much appreciated.
Many thanks for your continued support,
Freda
