the Guild of St Raphael
We have had a branch of the Guild of St Raphael at St Wilfrid's for as long as people can remember. The Parish Priest is deeply appreciative of the quiet and prayerful support that the branch gives him, especially in his ministry to the sick. Like many branches it is not large - but it makes up in faithfulness for any lack of numbers, and will be of real help in making the healing ministry more central to the church's life.
The Sacrament of the Laying on of Hands & Anointing is greatly encouraged during the Mass on the first Wednesday of each month or at other times on request to the clergy.
Note about our late secretary:
Miss Shettle (1917-2005) took over the Guild on the death of its devoted Secretary, Mrs Patrick, and does not know when it had its first beginnings but there was a branch by 1940.
We ask for prayers for the growth of our Branch and for our Parish and Priests.
